• The smartthings hub in the ADT smartthings alarm can communicate with it, so it can do all of the things that any other smartthings hub can do with this sensor. However only ADT alarm sensors can trigger alarm events on the ADT smartthings alarm, so you can't use it as an ADT smartthings alarm door sensor to trigger an alarm event when the door opens, for that you would have to use an ADT door sensor.

• No it doesn't, only specific ADT/Smartthings devices work with the ADT system.
