• The sound comes out the back. I didn't buy this unit for the sound, There are options to add speakers if that is what you are concerned about.

• Sound quality is fairly good and the sound volume on my Samsung is sufficient for even a hearing impaired person (like me) to hearclearly. I also have connected external speakers which produce robust bass and good tonal quality across the sound spectrum.
