Yes you can actually despite what samsung rep said....its only proprietary on the receiver end...the other end of the speaker wire is bare, so you can add more wire to it. I did this exact same thing using 16 gauge wire because i wanted to run the wires in the wall for a nice clean look. Be care stripping back the wires they give you as it is really thin, but i extended it with no problems
