I have both the R1 and an R5. I connect to my 60 samsung tv via blue tooth. Ther is a app that lets you connect multiple sam sung devices ( I can connect both speakers with same music or diferent music at the same time. Hope this helps.

You can only use the soundbar and any 2 wireless speakers when using surround, but you can use as many remote speakers as you want when listening to music/ pandora with the multiroom app. They have descent base, but the bigger base comes from the woofer and blends very well with R series speakers. Sounds awesome.
