Thanks for your answer above, but it does not address what my question asked. Has anyone used this to monitor the outside, both day and night, from the inside pointing out a window? Especially at night b/c I have read for other cameras that you cannot get a good image pointing out a window b/c the infrared lights only serve to reflect off the window so that what is going on outside cannot be seen.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don't have an IR camera to test with, but I believe there is a generic answer to the question... As an analogy, most people are familiar with what happens when taking a picture indoors with a flash on the camera - and there is a window directly in front of them: the flash reflects off the window back at the camera, and no useful picture is captured. The solution is to make sure that the window (or mirror, etc.) is not "flat" to the camera/flash - that is, not 90deg to the direction the camera is pointing. The same problem will affect the IR source from a camera like this one, and the solution is the same: - Aim the camera out the window at an angle; approximately 45deg will probably work best. - Make sure that the camera and its IR leds are not so close to the window that the IR reflection is still "seen" by the camera lens. You should be able to have the system set to monitor the video continuously and simply experiment with camera angle and placement to get the best image. The obvious unsolvable problem would be that the area you wish the camera to cover is directly in front of the only available window, so that you can't get the desired coverage by angling the camera view out the window.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I just purchased this system and we have it set up pointing out of a window. From what I have seen, it looks fine as long as the window is clear. I just logged on and it seems to be looking okay in the dim light accompanied by a street lamp. I havent seen the system in the dead of night as we just set it up this afternoon
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have two cameras placed inside the house: one on a window sill and other against a patio door pointing to my front and back yards. Daytime viewing is very good and clear, but not at night. The IR lighting causes a reflection and I cannot see anything.
