• Yes. There is an indentation in the base that allows the camera cable to come out from the base so that it can be mounted in any orientation you wish.

• Yes, I bought two. One is mounted on a vertical piece of trim under and exterior eave, and the other is mounted to the horizontal underside of an exterior eave.
