Here's some answers for your questions: 1. This system does NOT require ADT the professional monitoring. You can use SmartThings it for self-monitoring 2. You are correct. There is a SmartThings Hub built into the unit. 3. Yes, the panel can be wall mounted. 4. How do I know know this? I own the unit and system. It's awesome.

Will let you know once I get it working as I don’t intend to have ADT monitoring. 2. The SmartThings hub is not a separate “box”. That software is running inside the security panel. 3. Instructions say it can be mounted to a flat wall. You okay with having a power cord dangling from the wall? Not sure if you will try to fish the power cable in the wall from an ac outlet?
