I believe there’s an option to outsource this task to scout for monthly fee too I guess. This kit is mainly for some one who needs self managed home security.

Please try again later.I don't have the home monitoring portion of Smartthings, but from what I have read, the system will alert YOU to problems, but if you want the system to monitor and alert the police or fire department, then you would have to use a monitoring service and you would have to pay for it just like any other security monitoring service.

However, I do believe that there is the availability of a commercial monitoring service. But, I cannot confirm this, as I have no experience with it.
