If you have the Utilitech water sensor sold by Lowe's since the beginning, yes, it will connect, give battery level and properly trigger an alarm. Lowe's has a newer generation water sensor that is, apparently, ZWave. I do not have any of those but there is a routine in SmartThings for programming it.
