The first year of service with AT&T is included, and is $50 a year thereafter. I do not believe it can be activated on another carrier, although I could be wrong, and if so I would imagine T-Mobile would be compatible inasmuch as it is a GSM carrier like AT&T. However I doubt you would find an equivalent monthly plan cheaper than $50 annually. Given SmartThings propensity to want devices configured just so, I doubt there would be any net practical advantage to switching the carrier on the device.

Please try again later.I answered this in another thread, sort of, but if you want to make sure this works with a certain carrier, I highly recommend buying it directly from that carrier. Now that I’m set up on whatever service comes free (no idea which carrier), it’s great, but it was a nightmare trying to connect this to my carrier (Verizon and it was a no) or AT&T (they said it would work and didn’t).
