Partly true. The sensor reports temperature which can be used within the ST configuration to activate automation rules. You will need a smart thermostat connected to ST in order to actually change temp.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yeah, they should have written “.... trigger your smartthings-compatible smart thermostat....”. It would have been clearer. That said, it is not really misleading as the presumption with all these smart home gadgets is that they’re interacting with other smart home gadgets. Samsung is awful on customer service and support, and they indeed mislead. But this is the least of their offenses
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can trigger a change on a smart thermostat based on a temp reading from this sensor in the smart things environment. Pretty simple and straight forward.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, you would need a smart thermostat to make temperature changes.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.it is a sensor, nothing more and nothing less. It senses an open/close status when installed opposite the included magnet. It senses the orientation (vertical/horizontal) to report on the open/close status of a garage door. It reports vibration, such as a knock on the door, or attempt to force entry through a door or window. aaaaand it reports the temperature. All of the above can be integrated into various other smart applications or devices such as the EcoBee Smart Themostat, and GoControl's garage door opener control module, but on it's own, it only senses and reports. It does not control. Hope this helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I haven't used this as a temperature sensor since I have the Ecobee, but if you have smart things and a smart thermostat, you can set it up to use this sensor to trigger your thermostat. SO it does require a smart thermostat to operate in this way.
