Thanks so much for asking! The AutoRelease Dry feature releases the door latch and allows the door to drift open slightly. However, if the dishwasher is not level, or if there is anything blocking the door, it may not open very wide. The purpose of this is just to allow air to flow through the dishwasher, helping to dry the dishes faster and prevent odors. ^Jecca

It only opens a few inches. Just enough to let air into unit.
