• Yes you need an HDMI cable to connect to the TV. It streams things from the internet because it has built in wifi.

• DVD's are not streamed they require the HDMI Cord/Cable which must be purchased separately. The box clearly states an HDMI cable is needed to connect to a TV for the viewing of Blurays and DVDs. If you have a 4k TV there is a specialized HDMI cable. Most TV's can use any generic HDMI cable.
