• There is not a light to know when the device is on. This is the only downfall to this player.

• No there's not. That is the down side, you have to turn it off while tv still on.

• No. . . is the quickest answer that I can give you. To me, however, is not a concern or issue since I turn it on just as I need to use it. I also turn it off when through. There is a "timer" within the machine that turns the machine off if not in use for a period of time.
