The smart DVD player should already have a Netflix streaming app. Your Roku offers the ability to add more apps that don't come with smart DVD players. The Roku will stream withought a smart DVD player, you just need Internet wifi. You could essentially hook them up to two different tv's. The Roku tv would have more streaming apps and the DVD player would obviously have a DVD player, but you can get Netflix from either device. Edit: if you have a blue ray player that isn't smart, the Roku will give you the Netflix app if that's what your asking, I believe you will just need two separate hdmi inputs on your tv.
