A:Answer No. Essentially, the "Smart" part of each device, is just software running on it. So if you use the smart features of your TV, the software is currently running on the TV. If you turn on the Blu-ray player and use the "Smart" features on it, it just runs on the Blu-ray player. If you already have it on your TV, there's no NEED for you to have it on the Blu-ray player, but most nowadays come with it anyways. No harm in having both.
