“Do you need to install the samsung software on every device where you plan to use it ? Or just to setup the fingerprints?”

This question is for: Samsung - T7 Touch 500GB External USB 3.2 Gen 2 Portable SSD with Hardware Encryption - Silver

I haven't tried on a mobile device yet, but backed up data from 2 laptops, in order to use encryption you have to download the software. If you dont download it, you can still use device but without encryption.

Yes, you will need to install the Samsung software in order to use the fingerprint/password features - it’s pre-loaded on the drive so it will be available every time you connect it.

Samsung software is only for fingerprint setup and reading.
