• No. Just hookup the power cord and your HDMI cord to the TV is all you need. Once you do that you are good the Player will walk you thru the rest

• You can play DVDs without using WiFi. For other things like streaming movies on Amazon or Netflix you need to be connected wirelessly by WiFi or physically connected to an internet source by LAN cable.

• The DVD player has built-in Wifi. I had to purchase a wifi signal booster because the wifi signal from my wireless router wasn't strong enough.
