I can only tell you what it's done for me. If you use a 4K DVD player to watch 4K movies, it will only work with this upgrade. I have also noticed that all my new sources ( dish TV in HD & 4K, Netflix and regular Blu-ray movies ) going to this box has made my picture look much better. Was it worth the cost? For me yes

I always thought it was good before but it seems to have even more detail now. Also my Xbox One now has all the check boxes. I.E. it is sensing UHD, 24-bit color, HDR... on it's settings page. So ~$400 for a 'new' TV seems worth it.
