• Yes but I just plugged it into my iMac and it was ready to go.

• It doesn't as far as I know, at least not for PC. That being said you can probably download that software via their website. You can also setup Windows itself to run backups or you can use the free and very excellent software called "Macrium Reflect". It does quite a bit, is simple to use and is free with no ads or nonsense but there is a paid version that has a couple extra features most won't need.
