- Answer it’s formatted to work with Mac out of the box it needs to be formatted for PC, they have directions on there websites on how to format for PC

QuestionCan a partition be built to store and operate from Windows and Mac?

- Answer Yes they can. Any drive should technically be able to do that with the proper partition software. Or you could format it as exFat which can be read by both (and Linux) however frequently switching between the 2 operating systems and accessing files on exFat can cause file corruption. It's possible this issue has been solved by Microsoft & Apple but I'm not 100% sure so I want to give the warning regardless.

- Answer CMR drives. Pro grade external storage might use SMR but to keep costs down CMR is generally used because it's older technology and cheaper to manufacture
