“Can a partition be built to store and operate from Windows and Mac?”

• Yes they can. Any drive should technically be able to do that with the proper partition software. Or you could format it as exFat which can be read by both (and Linux) however frequently switching between the 2 operating systems and accessing files on exFat can cause file corruption. It's possible this issue has been solved by Microsoft & Apple but I'm not 100% sure so I want to give the warning regardless.
