I work mostly with Dell computers and never had an issue with them. I have replaced hundreds of the old Hard Drives with these SSDs.

The Inspiron 3847 already has a SATA hard drive in it, so if you are replacing the existing drive, it should be a matter of unplugging the old one and plugging this one in, and off you go. The manual for the 3847 indicates that it has internal bays for two drives, so adding this as a second drive should also be straightforward.
