It depends if you are manually going to reinstall your operating system or do a image. If you do a image then you need a 1G HDD.

The relative ease of replacement has many factors, however once determined that you personally can get into the laptop to replace the drive, the migration of the operating system is typically done by purchasing a USB to SATA cable, where you will plug the new drive into the cable and into your USB slot, then with the drive cloning software you purchased you will clone the internal drive to the external USB connected drive (doing this before you replace the physical drive will alleviate any headaches with replacing first and then finding out something is incompatible.. Once you have cloned the internal drive to the external drive, open up the laptop and replace the old with the new drive, close up and start your computer. As to the effect of the replacement... If your current drive is a standard 'spindle' drive type (non-SSD) then the significantly increased SSD read/write speeds will definitely make your computer feel faster! Maxing out your computers memory will also provide a benefit.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I swapped out an HDD for this product and it transitioned well. so far no adverse actions have happened. I also had a program installed to help maintain it as you no longer defragment your hard drive, but use another program instead. the geek squad from best buy installed it and gave me good detailed instructions. might help to talk to them when you do it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is possible to replace the HDD (and put the HDD in a USB 3.0 caddy). I don't know which model of Legion you have, but you can get the service manual for most of Lenovo's products from their website. You should get a performance boost, so less storage but faster access and retrieval/writes. I don't think this voids the warranty, but you can look on their site.
