• This is a guess. I'll bet that in 2011 when that document was published a 512 GB SSD was the largest available.

• The ability of your MacBook Pro to use a 1TB hard drive will depend on what year and model of MacBook Pro you are using. Any MacBook Pro from 2008 - early 2012 will use a SATA drive type and a 1TB SSD will work in any of those computers.
