Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I rechecked the HP documentation on the Envy 750-171; you should have, by spec, a 256 Gb SDD as drive 1 and a 1Tb HDD as drive 2. In any case, the connections are SATA specific, and the drive should function properly in your system. If you're replacing a smaller SDD, you may need to use Acronis or similar disk copy software to move your OS & primary files. You should be able to connect the 480Gb SDD as drive 3 & do a complete copy from your existing smaller SDD to the new one. Then swap the drives & good to go. If you don't intend to move the OS from the 256Gb SDD that came in the system, then just install as drive 3 & go. I've got one 480 Gb SDD mounted in an external USB case, works without issue. The other is installed as drive 1 in this computer, with a 2Tb HDD as drive 2, again, no problems.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it will they both use SATA 3. You'll most likely need to create the recovery media on a USB thumb drive and buy a 2.5" to 3.5" adapter bracket.
