• No it will not prevent it from falling backwards if install properly. It will only prevent falling forward.

• Thanks for the question. The strap is designed to keep children and pets safe from accidental TV tip-overs. It will keep your TV more stable vs. a TV without an anti-tip strap, but we can't guarantee it will keep your TV in place during an earthquake. - Katie @ SANUS
