“My sxm was installed in August.The antenna was installed INSIDE the tinted windshield on the dash. After a number of calls and an entire new radio, it was learned that antennas should be outside the car. I got a radio for someone at Xmas...same deal. Why?”

probably it was too much inconvenience for them to go through the windshield gasket it also depends upon the materials of the roof , (like corvettes) fiberglass or plastic roofs /sunroofs and etc sometimes make it impossible to get good reception
