Geek Squad installation - El Centro, CA

Best Buy Geek Squad (in particular Sergio from the El Centro branch) installed my stereo head unit and subsequently a Viper alarm system into my 2010 Ford F-250. Sergio applied his expertise to the entire process including recommendation, diagnostic, ordering, and install. He knew exactly what would work for my installation (including harnesses and adapters/converters) to meet my expectations. Sergio was extremely polite, respectful, and customer service oriented including his patience with me as I know very little about the nature of vehicle electronics and he entertained and answered all of my amateur inquiries. Sergio completed the install as scheduled, in a practical time frame, and I was more than satisfied the work Sergio completed as my truck was returned to complete factory condition with the install done correct the first time. I highly recommend having this kind of work performed at Best Buy El Centro as opposed to other local stereo shops as I shopped around prior to the install, and found that the other shops did not carry the higher quality stereo head by Sony, and although the cost was a bit cheaper for the install, with Best Buy you have the peace-of-mind that your install is performed using the highest quality materials (such as wires, tape, etc.) that will last for the lifetime of the vehicle, vs. the most cost-efficient to keep the overhead of the stereo shop low. Best Buy stands by their work and their products, while the other guys won’t offer a guarantee for their work. Thank you Best Buy and especially Sergio V. for a job well done the first time! -ShawnM

I now have a functional radio with Apple CarPlay

I purchased a pioneer radio with wireless and Bluetooth, and Apple CarPlay for my 2015 Jeep Wrangler. I’m satisfied with my purchase, I enjoy having the Apple CarPlay so I can listen to my pandora and xmradio without it cutting in and out during my drives with the old factory radio. The dealer wanted to replace the factory one with an estimated price of $500 maybe. I declined and purchased the aftermarket one with the features I wanted. I can easily answer calls, factory uconnect wasn’t working. I like when a texts comes through I can say it out loud and have it read to me. I use the Wayz GPS app and it’s nice to see the map on a bigger screen and not look at my phone clipped to my phone holder. Also purchased the xmradio tuner due to the factory connections don’t fit as well for the steering wheel controls wire so I can be able to use on the back for volume and station switching. The only thing I wish I could do, is use YouTube unfortunately the app doesn’t come up on screen. I have a lot of playlists on there, tho I did a bit of research to see if there was a way, from what I read, some said it’s not compatible and some said you can make it compatible by installing a CarPlay app from the store. I just don’t know how reliable the app is and I don’t want to mess up my settings and the way I use it. It was kinda confusing to understand, I hope I can get some feedback on this if it’s worth it or not and if it does or doesn’t work, and how to set up without messing with my settings I currently have. I’ll have to ask around too. It took the amount of time the service installer said. I was informed on how to use it. I now can listen to my music without a song cutting in and out and enjoy my drives. It makes me want to drive more tho I do drive a lot. I’m very happy with it. It also has the Amazon music app as well, I’m just learning how to use it, still not that good with it but I can make playlists on that as well. I wish I took a better pic at least with it turned on.

    Nightmare Radio Install1

I went to Best buy two inquire about a harness to install a Android radio I bought online into my 2014 Jeep Wrangler. I spoke to Michael at the Lake Charles Best buy and he convinced me to purchase a radio from Best buy and have it installed by professional there rather than me trying to install a radio myself. My appointment for the install was at 11:30 a.m. . I arrived 10 minutes early and spoke to the installer. I told him that I had already removed the dash panel, due to me looking at installing a radio myself. I showed him how the dash panel easily clip back in and showed him that there were three screws that held the radio/odometer dash onto the rest of the dashboard. I also showed him an additional piece that clipped in right below the steering column and where the screws were located in the cup holder. He told me the time to complete showed one and a half to 2 hours, but since he was fairly new, it would probably take him 2 hours. I said no problem, went to go get something to eat, and came back two and a half hours later to find he was still not finished. He told me it would take another half hour to an hour to get everything back together. I came back at 3:00 p.m. and the radio was installed protruding out of the dash and low into the AC ducts. I asked him if he could adjust that, and he said yes give him another 30 minutes. After he adjusted, he showed me and I asked him why there was not a bezel behind the radio screen to cover up the open hole. He said he could get one and install it and put it on the warranty of the radio. He asked me if I wanted to do that now, I said yes, and he took another 45 minutes to take the dash out and put in the bezel. He called me back in to the bay at around 4:30, and said he was almost finished, the radio was out of the dash and he said he had to put it all back together. Around 5:00, he said it was done. I went to back the vehicle out of the bay, and told him the backup camera was not coming on. He said that was probably a wire that was disconnected. I told him I was not leaving until everything was fixed. I then noticed the radio dash was not attached to the main dash and was slightly hanging off. I also noticed the panel under the steering column was not placed on correctly and after removing it, saw that he had bent the clips trying to attach it. I then noticed that the screws that were supposed to be in the clips in the dash we're missing on both sides, so the dash wasn't attached to anything. I asked him where the clips were and told him they were there when I showed him where the three screws were to be reattached. I found one on the floorboard of the vehicle. He could not find the other, but I found it later on the floor of the bay. He tried to reattach one in the dash but dropped it in the dash and couldn't retrieve it. I also asked him if he had put the screw to hold the dash on behind the electric window switches, he said he didn't know, I checked it and there was no screw, which he did not know where it was at. After finding out that he was missing a $7.99 part to make the backup camera work, he said he would have to order which would not come into the following week. He told me he would put everything back together, and all I had to do was come back next week for him to fix the backup camera. At 6:30 p.m. after 7 hours at Best buy, I drove out with the dash hanging off, the dash damaged by him trying to smash it on to the dash column, clips missing to attach the radio dash to the rest of the dash, and a radio that did not work properly. I linked my phone to the radio on the way home and found that there was no volume when calls came through, no audio for GPS, no audio for messaging, amongst other issues. Workers in Best buy told me that geek squad is handled by a different set of managers. Workers at the geek squad counter said the installer was a backup, and not the regular guy that installs. After calling customer service, I asked if there was any way I could speak to a manager at the store, and they said no, I have to go to the store. So after spending 7 hours of my time wasted, I have to go to another location in Lafayette Louisiana to have it worked on and hopefully fixed. And if I wish to speak to a manager I have to drive 45 minutes one way to go speak to the manager in LC. I spent over $1,000 and this is the unprofessional service I received. I would like for a district manager for Best buy to contact me, please.

My 2016 Jeep Patriot was in need of a touch screen radio with satellite capability as I am a SirusXM subscriber. The Kenwood 7in touch screen with back up camera was the extra tech I was looking at making my ride more up to date. The Kenwood deck with SiruusXM receiver and the steering wheel control along with the back up camera were all purchased on a Saturday and by Monday I was able to get in for the install. The professional installer stated this would take about 3 to 4 hours. The complete install only took 3 hours and I was back on the road. The installation looked like it was factory installed as it all was a seamless match and everything worked flawlessly. The installer showed me exactly on how everything would work. Top notch installers at the Menomonee Falls WI location.

BB #1037 in Newnan,GA has a great installation team. I took my 2013 Prius to a local installer who fleeced me and messed up my steering wheel controls for my hybrid function. The guys at BB were able to fix all the mistakes, and get my stereo sounding great. I will not go to anyone else for my future installs.

I stopped by Best Buy in Columbus,IN to find out the correct way to get satellite radio in my 2010 Subaru. I was sold a SXV300 satellite radio tuner and made an appointment for installation (which I had to schedule at a store 45 min away because there was no one in Columbus to do it) When I showed up for the appointment I was told it was totally the wrong part and we needed to go to Subaru to purchase what we needed. The employee also stated that they have frequently had issues with the Columbus Store and bad information. So now $85 and weeks later I am no closer to getting satellite radio

Geek squad had me make 4 trips and spend over 20 hours sitting around while they tried to get my radio installed. They broke my center windshield garnish molding and put it on me to find the replacement part. Still can’t find the part. The installation was cheesy to say the least. I’m completely disappointed and dissatisfied. Wish I hadn’t spent the money and put it into something else

I have spent WAY TOO MUCH TIME and money trying to get rectified a situation from an install back in November. Some of the guys appear to know what they are doing but some are getting on the job training. See initial linstall pictures below. They finally got my install right but I am still having to spend TOO MUCH TIME to get reimbursed for a dealership diagnostic for my ABS light coming on, which was a result of this install.

The installer took apart the dashboard of my 15 year old car and installed the new smart screen/radio without a scratch. There was potential for the dashboard to crack because the car was old, but it turned out perfectly. The installer was very professional and quick.
