“Any idea what "protection mode" actually is? Bought this and charged my phone fine for the first and 2nd use. 3rd use on and it'll blink red and the information given with it doesn't explain what "protection mode* is or how to fix it.”

It is most likely due to heat. Either the phone, the charger or both are too hot to charge.
