• what kind of computer are you connecting it to? Are you sure that you are connecting it to a USB port that works? Have you tried plugging in something else into that USB port, such as a flash drive or another external hard disk or mouse or keyboard?

• A hard drive does not need to be charged. You MUST use the external power supply provided with the drive. Plug the power supply into a wall receptacle and connect it to the hard drive at the proper post.
