This drive spins at 5900 RPM. It is not a solid state drive as someone answered here. It is a rotational drive. The USB 3.0 is the computer interface and has nothing to do with rotational speed. On the websites for the places that sell the drive you will find a section on specifications. Best Buy's web site, for example, shows the rotational speed on the specifications page at 5900 RPM. Many drives spin at 7200 RPM, but with a USB interface, the rotational speed is not as important as on an internal drive using an SATA interface.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.because it is a "flash/zip/USB type drive and not a magnetic spinning hard drive. It's speed is determined by the USB connection (2.0 or 3.0) not on the RPM of physical disk inside the drive (7200, 10000 rpm)...
