The installation process is very simple. Before you begin that process, however, make sure you have the update file you will need to get the PS4 up and running after you replace the drive. (You can find instructions for downloading this file at https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/system-updates/ps4/) Although the instructions state that you can use the PS4 itself to get the upgrade for this from the internet, I was not able to get that to work. I found that I needed to get the PS4 update file installed on a flash drive that is 2 GB or smaller (FAT32 format). If your flash drive is larger than 2 GB, you will need to partition it to 2GB or smaller partitions -- the PS4 won't recognize larger drives for this purpose. Before taking our the current hard drive, I would also recommend backing up all games and files on the current hard drive to the PS4 network and/or to an external hard drive (I had problems trying to use a 2TB external drive for this, but had success with a 1TB drive). To install the drive in a PS4, first make sure the PS4 is turned off and unplugged. Next, remove the plastic covering over the existing drive. That covering is the smaller side of the covering, over about 1/3 of the machine. Be careful taking this off, so you don't crack the tabs on it. (I found it easy to take off by gently pulling towards the side and upward.) You then to remove the screw holding the existing drive in place, and slide the drive out. Note how the drive sits in the metal casing, so you can properly place the new drive into the casing, and then remove the 4 screws holding the drive in place. Place the new drive into the metal casing, and replace the 4 screws to hold it into the casing. Slide the casing into the PS4, and replace the screw to hold it in place. Carefully replace the cover. When you plug in the PS4, you should be able to follow the on-screen instructions to get up and running.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Just pop off the plastic cover on the PS4 and unscrew the 4 screws. Slide out the old harddrive and slide in the new hard drive and rescrew. You will need a USB to install the system software from online to the PS4 but There are YouTube videos detailing the installation process.
