Is this the same as a ST2000DM001 harddrive? null

It very well could be but,the only way to see is to open the casing and look. I would not recommend it if it's still under factory warranty though. I had an external WD My Passport 500GB but the SATA to USB board in it fried. The drive was okay and behold, when I opened it, it was the same exact WD model as a SATA WD 500GB Internal drive I had. It is very possible that other companies could do this too.
