it will not work internally on a ps4.. however if you buy the 3.5" HDD ps4 housing it will work just fine. The ps4 HDD is a 2.5" this is a 3.5" drive.

You will need this to download the ps4 os, 900MB in size. You will also need a fat32 formatted USB drive no larger then 32gb in size. The ps4 will not recognizea larger drive in the USB port. The new HD I bought was a Seagate 2TB 2.5 laptop HD. The cheaper 3.5 drive will NOT fit inside the chassis. Works great, games load faster and you do not void the Sony factory warrantee.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It will work, but this hard drive get's pretty hot and not recommended to install it in a PS4. I installed mine on a Hitachi external case as a personal cloud, but had to modify it with heat sinks and a cooling fan of its own. Overall, the excessive heat may damage your system or just make it run poor. Bottom line is, "DO NOT INSTALL MORE THAN 1 TB". DUE TO HEAT!
