If price is good then yes ... otherwise go with a solid state drive
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.no you really need to set up a RAID6 Array of SSD drives
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.if you are looking for an external hard drive, I would get one that is in the case already!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes. 7200 RPM with up to 6 Gbps transfer rate will work well.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The drive will probably be fine, but I would caution you to have either a USB3 or eSATA enclosure to handle the bandwidth of the HD data going through the interface...
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I use these drives in a Rosewill, sold by Newegg, USB 3/ESATA enclosure. It is fan cooled which makes no noise and comes with a 12V 2AMP power supply. The drive itself makes no operational sounds and runs cooler than my Western Digital hard drives. Drive transfer rates are identical using USB 3 or ESATA versus internal SATA connection. If running using USB 2 input you will see sequential read/write speeds of approximately 35MB/s.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it's a good HD for recording in HD. If you just recording tivo it's amazing as long as you have at least a quad core cpu. Anyways I have 2 running in RAID for recording in 720i at 30 FPS and i'm about to pick up 2 more and run them in RAID 4 so I can record BF3 in 1080p at 60 FPS without droping and frames.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This drive should be good *IF* it's the Black model, and *IF* your interface to it (external enclosure) is fast, like USB3 or Firewire. Otherwise just drop it internally (assuming it's a 7200rpm or faster model) if using for HD video.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It should be although it is a bit overkill. The Tivo does not need SATA III. SATA III is however backwards compatible to SATA II.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Tivo requires a special kind of enclosure. If you are not familiar with it I wouldn't attempt making your own. Putting a drive in any old enclosure and hooking it up to a PC will work fine, it's trickier with TIVO.
