“Do I have to install the Dashboard Installer? I want to backup a huge file containing a bunch of data from multiple years of a project. All of this data is contained in one file. I only want to backup this file and not any of the other files on my PC. Is it necessary to install the dashboard if I am only using this product as a backup/data storage devise?”

• No. I only installed the Dashboard once and couldn't see that it had any real use. I only use my external hard drives for backup purposes. I use XXCopy which runs in a CMD window to do my backups. If you're only backing up one file, you can drag and drop it in an explorer window.

• No, I don't think so. We have had several Seagate backup drives and have never needed to install the dashboard installer.

• No, you can use it like a huge thumb drive. Don't need the software. Just drag and drop.
