You cannot use any hard drive through the USB port The PlayStation four does support up to 4 TB with an internal hard drive Surprisingly if you open the bottom of the PlayStation four and insert an internal hard drive it does not void the warranty . Hopefully Sony well have an update to allow external like Microsoft has There are many how to guides on Google
