I hope by now you have found the needed answers. I reformatted my drive for Mac per the instructions on the Seagate website, and all works fine with Yosemite. You can look up the drive on their website, I found the link for reformatting the drive for Mac to be very helpful.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I used it for both my Mac and my PC. I ran into a problem with the Mac too, but I went online and chatted with the tech support and she guided to a quick fix.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I ended up having to format it to get it to work with time machine.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Well, "doesn't work" is a pretty bad problem description. The drive by default is formatted with an NTFS filesystem for a Windows PC. You would have to initialize the drive to work with your Mac (unless you explicitly bought already a version that is formatted for a Mac). You have to do this with the Application "Disk Utility", which you will find of course in "Applications"=>"Utilities". Here's a little tutorial on this http://macs.about.com/od/applications/ss/diskutilformat.htm And just to be safe, make double/triple sure that you perform any such task on that external hard drive! and NOT on your internal one (though I am not sure it would even let you do this)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The problem is most likely the drive file system you are using. Make sure that you have formatted the drive as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Mac OS is a customized version of Linux, so it uses file systems that are compatible with Linux. Without more information it would be hard to answer this question with more specificity.
