My old one has roughly about less than 10 GB of memory left so I am looking for a new one and this 5TB (wow we are actually in the TB world now!? lol) seems like a good one, I mean look at that storage capacity! :) But how do I transfer all files from the old one, just highlight everything, cut & paste to the new one?”

Yes and for the money this is the one to get. Don't buy small. There is never enough capacity just like there is never enough money no matter how much you have.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes. You can copy and paste files to this drive. It does have backup software too, but I just copied what files I needed to. If you have a lot of files or large files take advantage of USB 3.0 for the faster transfer time.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You can cut and paste as long as there are no system files. Seagate also has backup software that comes with the drive. One thing I would add is if the data is important...then sooner than later back it up to an optical disc (DVD, Blu Ray, etc), or trusted cloud service. Hard Drives will eventually fail.
