I think you can use almost any hard drive to back up Windows, but this is more a matter of software than hardware and really methodology. If a hard or solid state drive that you are running the operating system (OS) off of (e.g. Windows) fails, what is typically done is the have created a OS image file in advance (for Windows: https://www.bing.com/search?q=create%20recovery%20drive%20windows%2010%20site:microsoft.com&form=B00032&ocid=SettingsHAQ-BingIA&mkt=en-US) to restore the OS and then reinstall software. What you will lose is all personal files (pictures, documents, videos, etc.) on the failed drive. Many hard drives now include incremental backup software for this purpose, but I have not used this software. I try to keep all personal files on a flash drive and try to have a backup of this if it fails.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.
