“Mac OSX 10.75... is this external hard drive with USB connections....compatible with my mac? I was told to ask if it uses the 'old' USB connection or the 'new' USB connection. My Mack is about 4-5 years old.”

There's really no difference between USB 1.1, 2.0 and 3.0 connections, at least as far as the computer is concerned. They're all backwards compatible. My Macbook Pro is a 2011 model with USB 2.0 and it works just fine.
