You can use any 3.0 USB hard drive with a minimum of 256gb.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I purchased this one thinking about the formatting of the drive. My son purchased a 5TB Seagate external drive. It formatted without issue and is being currently used. I would say you can use most external drives and allow the Xbox to format it.

Please try again later.you can use any external sata 2.5 hard drive over 258 gb anything lower for xbox one will not allow you to use it for games. you cant use a 3.5 regular hard drive with out power. 2.5 is lower power so many 2.5 hard drive sata to usb connectors provide enough power.

Other externals or USB drives cannot be formatted to work with the One. I was unaware of this and bought a 128 gb USB drive which ended up not working. I did some research and realized I had to buy the seagate external that was already formatted specifically for the one.
