Q: QuestionInstead of using the included hub, can these work with Amazon Echo Plus (built in zigbee)?
Asked by 9maroom.
This question was asked about the related product: Sengled - Smart A19 LED 60W Bulbs Starter Kit Works with Amazon Alexa & Google Assistant (4-Pack) - Multicolor
- A:Answer I picked up the bulbs today, and they are working great! I can confirm that they do work with Echo devices that have hubs, and you can leave out the included hub if you with; however, I ended up really liking the included hub. The protocol used is Zigbee. To answer your most recent question, you would need to set it to pair mode. This is done by flipping the switch several times. The light will blink a few times, which indicates that it is in pairing mode. At that point you can begin the process of adding it to Alexa app by running a discovery. Keep in mind that once you pair it to Alexa, you essentially unpair it to the Hub, which is already "pre-paired". No big deal, since you can pair it back. The process to pair back to the sengled hub is similar to how you would do with an Echo device with a hub, or if that does not work, you need to manually scan the bulb's QR code - Should the discovery fail after that, just set it back to pairing mode again like before, and this time it will work. So initially I was thinking to not use the hub, and paired the first bulb with my Echo hub. Played with it a little, then wanted to try out the sengled app. I could not get that bulb recognized by the vendor app. Curious about the features, I proceeded to use the hub on another bulb. Long story short, the software allows updating the firmware, has some color light presets, like Christmas, Halloween, & etc, So I find the software very useful for now. I've gone ahead and configured all the bulbs to the included hub, and used the skill in Alexa, which essentially looks the same as if I had paired it directly. I'm guessing that while I become more familiar, I may discover ways to configure the same functionality outside of the sengled app, and mostly no longer need it; however, right now surprisingly, I'm loving the combo of the Alexa skills (brining me the power of Alexa), and the sengled App.

Q: QuestionCan I connect the hub to my wifi even though it only runs at 5 gigahertz. I am having problems connecting other lights that don’t need a hub because of this. My wifi company xfinity doesn’t offer 2.4 gigahertz wifi.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer You have to manually split the WiFi signal from your Xfinity router in to its 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz component signals so your lightbulbs can work on the 2.4 one.

Q: QuestionPossibly a dumb question... are these only colored lights or do they work as standard light bulbs color wise? I don’t want pink lights just your regular lighting.
Asked by Krystle.
This question was asked about the related product: Sengled - Smart A19 LED 60W Bulbs Starter Kit Works with Amazon Alexa & Google Assistant (4-Pack) - Multicolor
- A:Answer They have both color and standard light options. The normal light colors are good, and vary from quite warm to very cool. Colors are not very vibrant, but it sounds like this is not important for you. I would go with the non-color version of these bulbs or check out C9 Direct Connect by GE to save some money.

Q: QuestionMay be a crazy question, but I'm looking at these as an extra security measure. Say I live in FL, I could still control from CA as long as I have the app correct?
Asked by Lene.
This question was asked about the related product: Sengled - Smart A19 LED 60W Bulbs Starter Kit Works with Amazon Alexa & Google Assistant (4-Pack) - Multicolor
- A:Answer Great question! I believe that's the purpose but I haven't tried the app controls outside of my wireless network yet. Hopefully someone can comment to clarify. If I remember correctly from my setup process, a profile with SengLed is created, your hub/bulbs/etc are registered with your account/profile, install the app on your portable device (mobile, laptop, tablet etc.), login to the app and then I'm thinking that should then all be connected over the internet for control wherever you have online access. Another thought I just had was also the connectability/control via smart home tech i.e. Amazon Alexa devices, Google Home, Home Connect etc. All of my bulbs and hub are connected via Amazon Alexa account so can control via Echo and Alexa devices around the house. Again this means I should be able to also use the Alexa mobile app or online website to send a control signal to the hub/bulbs.
