• These are NOT asymmetrical. the cable length from the "Y" junction to ear bud is the same length for L and R.

• They are symmetrical. I hear what you are saying. If you don't clip them at the right spot to your shirt, the wire will annoy you. You have to adjust them a bit. This is not a huge problem.
