• I was surprised that it picked up any hay at all. The sweeper picked up about half of the guinea pig hay off my hardwood floor. Of course, long pieces will not fit through the tube so we have to be reasonable about expectations.

• I don't think so. For loose hay, I would probably look at DeWalt's hand vacs. I think they will handle the super fine dust that hay always has better than these Shark and Dyson vacuums.
