“In the demo video a electrical cord is displayed as being disconnected as from the unit by the handle with some "Lightning bolts" going in between the unit and the cord. Is this describing that the vacuum can be used as corded in addition to cordless?”

As the other person noted, this unit does not have a cord. What the video shows is that you can charge the battery while it is still in the unit and then just unplug it when you're ready to use it. You can also charge the battery if you remove it but with this unit you don't have to. The unit that comes with the 2 batteries and the dual charger, you do need to remove the battery to charge it. Removing the battery is very simple and easy.
