The Shark robot vacuum uses optical cliff sensors to detect drop-offs, but it can mistakenly identify dark patterns or black lines on rugs as cliffs. This may cause it to hesitate or avoid those areas. While regular cleaning of the sensors may help, it might not fully resolve the issue if the rug's design resembles a cliff.
