• Yes. I have wood floors, carpet and different thickness of rugs throughout my house. This vacuum has 2 settings...one for flat, non-carpet floors and one for floors. I would personally remove the dust roller at the front of the vacuum when vacuuming thick shaggy carpet, just because you really don't need to dust your carpet.

• I have berber carpet, if there's a snag it will pull it. I personally would not purchase if I had shag carpet

• It does work on shag carpet but I find that I have to clean the "fuzzes" from the carpet off of the roller more frequently then if the pile was shorter . I have longer piled carpet but it is older so that could be why my vacuum picks up so many "fuzzes."
