Just had the same experience. This appears to be one of the few models where the outer roller ring is actually part of the hub (only ring with spokes). All other microwaves have separate removeable ring. As poor of a design as it is, apparently its intentional that this plate doesn't drop into center grooves. This plate is relying totally on those spinning wheels to support/spin the plate.
